Schalke striker Raul is adamant that everything is possible in the second-leg of their Champions League semi-final tie against Manchester United.

The former Real Madrid's star’s comments come after the German side were defeated 2-0 by United at the Veltins Arena on Tuesday evening.

However, Raul, who has won the Champions League on three occasions with Madrid, believes that the German outfit can still reach the final of Europe's elite club competition.

"In the return leg, everything is possible. We do not know what will happen, a penalty to us, a sending off for them [Manchester United]. Nothing is impossible in football," the 33-year-old told reporters after the match.
"We expected a different result, another outcome to the game but we are still happy because we played to our level. The problem was that Manchester [United] played at another level.

"The only regrets we have are that we did not create enough scoring chances and that we conceded two goals in two minutes. Reaching the semi-finals for this club has given the supporters a great sense of pride. We tried everything, the fans realise this, and we were warmly applauded after the game.

The second-leg could be Raul's last match in the competition with Schalke currently 10th in the Bundesliga and out of the running for a Champions League spot. However, the striker is not upset about this possible prospect.

"To play my last [Champions League] game at Old Trafford? It would not hurt,” the Spaniard stated. “We really want to finish showing our qualities and giving a good image of ourselves against a big side in a big stadium with a brilliant atmosphere.”
